Dichloromethane Stabilized (Avantor H485-10 4LT)
Multiple
Avantor
Due to its volatility and low boiling point, dichloromethane (DMC) makes a useful chemical energy source either when used in small quantities or when aerosolized. In order for DMC to be aerosolized effectively though, it must be chemically stabilized prior to use in order to control the release of energy. It has also become one of the most frequently used replacements in aerosol spray cans for environmentally harmful chlorofluorocarbons after new environmental regulations banned their use. Furthermore stabilized, DMC is also one of the primary blowing agents used in the production of the slabstock PU foam used in most furniture or padding and cushioning. Stabilized DMC is ideal for the foam manufacturing process as it is a stable solvent that evaporates during production. Moreover, due to its high stability and low boiling point, it helps to control the reaction temperature to prevent burning or scorching of the foam during the blowing and molding process.
